They may need to model how data is (or will be) used or - if they only deal with requirements investigation - then someone else in the team will need to verify that the data to support new functions will be available. <br><br> To produce a data model (a logical view of the data) the technique of choice has been, and still remains, the entity relationship diagram (ERD). However in Object Oriented Development (OOD), classes are used to group together things (including data) that have similar properties. <br><br> Class diagrams in themselves do not provide a straightforward path to database design because they do not represent a logical view of the data. To get this logical view we need to modify how class diagrams are used so that we can have a single view of the data in our application... <a href="http://www.irm.com.au/P20_data_modelling_and_object_oriented_development.htm" target="_blank">more</a>. <br><br> </font> <center><hr color="#4775CB" width="100%"/></center> <font face=arial size=3> <b><i>What's your project pitch?</b></i> <center><hr color="#4775CB" width="100%"/></center></font> <font face=arial size=2> Sometimes a salesperson only has once chance to capture a prospect s attention. That s why the good ones always have an elevator pitch polished and ready to go. <br><br> What about you? When your CIO gets into the lift and asks So what are you working on? , forget about trying to sell your project concentrate on selling yourself. <br><br> After all projects come and go but keeping - and promoting - good staff is what a CIO s job entails. Putting your work into a business context should get their attention and maybe a tick in the box at your next appraisal...<a href="http://www.irm.com.au/A12_your_project_pitch.htm" target="_blank">more</a>. <br><br> </font> <center><hr color="#4775CB" width="100%"/></center> <font face=arial size=3> <b><i>Can you say no?</b></i> <center><hr color="#4775CB" width="100%"/></center></font> <font face=arial size=2> What do you do when you know that your client, project manager or even team leader is totally on the wrong track? Here are some words of encouragement:<br> <p align="center"><b> "A person cannot take as an excuse an order given by a manager if the manager is absent or unaware of current circumstances. Any person who undertakes to carry out a plan which he or she considers defective is at fault. He or she must put forward their reasons and insist on the plan being changed& .rather than be the instrument of the plan s failure".</b></p> So who said this? Napoleon may have had some problems with the weather in Russia but he had just conquered Europe and his guidelines are still taught at every military college in the world.<br><br> </font> <center><hr color="#4775CB" width="100%"/></center> <font face=arial size=3> <b><i>Public course schedule for 2012 now online</b></i> <center><hr color="#4775CB" width="100%"/></center></font> <font face=arial size=2> For 2012 dates and online bookings, just click the button on the left for your preferred city. <br><br> We still have some courses coming up before the end of 2011: <br><br> <b>Sydney</b><br> Nov 8-10: &nbsp; <a href="http://www.irm.com.au/requirements_gathering_specification_training.htm" title="Requirements Gathering & Specification training - click for more details" target="_blank">Requirements Gathering & Specification</a><br> Nov 23-24: <a href="http://www.irm.com.au/uml_training.htm" title="Modelling Requirements with Use Case & the UML workshop - click for more details" target="_blank">Modelling Requirements with Use Case/UML</a><br> Nov 29-2: &nbsp;<a href="http://www.irm.com.au/business_analysis_training.htm" title="Business Analysis training - click for more details" target="_blank">Business Analysis</a><br><br> <b>Melbourne</b><br> Nov 15-17: <a href="http://www.irm.com.au/requirements_gathering_specification_training.htm" title="Requirements Gathering & Specification training - click for more details" target="_blank">Requirements Gathering & Specification</a><br> Dec 6-9: &nbsp; &nbsp; <a href="http://www.irm.com.au/business_analysis_training.htm" title="Business Analysis training - click for more details" target="_blank">Business Analysis</a><br> Dec 12-13: <a href="http://www.irm.com.au/technical_writing_training.htm" title="Technical Writing Skills training - click for more details" target="_blank">Technical Writing Skills</a><br><br> <b>Canberra</b><br> Nov 16-17: <a href="http://www.irm.com.au/analysing_solving_problems_training.htm" title="Analysing & Solving Problems workshop - click for more details" target="_blank">Analysing & Solving Problems</a><br> Nov 22-24: <a href="http://www.irm.com.au/requirements_gathering_specification_training.htm" title="Requirements Gathering & Specification training - click for more details" target="_blank">Requirements Gathering & Specification</a><br> Nov 29-30: <a href="http://www.irm.com.au/uml_training.htm" title="Modelling Requirements with Use Case & the UML workshop - click for more details" target="_blank">Modelling Requirements with Use Case/UML</a><br> Dec 6-9: &nbsp; &nbsp; <a href="http://www.irm.com.au/business_analysis_training.htm" title="Business Analysis training - click for more details" target="_blank">Business Analysis</a><br> <p align=right> <a href="http://www.irm.com.au/how_to_make_a_booking.htm" target="_blank"><b><i>2012 course dates now online...</a></b></i></p> </font> <center><hr color="#4775CB" width="100%"/></center> <font face=arial size=3> <b><i>Facebook & Twitter</b></i> <center><hr color="#4775CB" width="100%"/></center></font> <font face=arial size=2> You can now keep up to date with the latest news from IRM via <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/IRM-Training/117870238313178?sk=wall" target="_blank" title="Follow us on Facebook"><b>Facebook</b></a> and <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/IRM_Training" target="_blank" title="Follow us on Twitter"><b>Twitter</b></a>.
